SPF Autumn

“What is autumn? Autumn is the sky…” as the famous song goes but, for all poker players in Russia and beyond, autumn means just one thing: the SPF AUTUMN series at the Sochi Poker Club. One more stage of the Sochi Poker Festival will be held on 17–27 September.

Traditionally, this is one of the year’s most packed and highly-attended tournament series, bringing together both pros and those taking their first steps in poker. The Festival’s format is clear and easy. Pay a set buy-in, get your starter chip stack and take your place at the tables. As blinds get higher, so do mandatory antes, making the game ever more dynamic and forcing every participant to be more decisive. Tournament poker is a true sport requiring focus, composure and ability to calculate right on time.

Why is the SPF worth going to? First, it has the vibe of a true sporting event. Live broadcasts and professional judges monitor the proceedings, creating an atmosphere of a fully-fledged festival. Second, the lineup offers everyone an event to suit their budget. The SPF AUTUMN lasts ten days, its programme featuring several dozen tournaments with different buy-ins. Circumspect players will enjoy inexpensive daily events. Players who bet big will revel in expensive high-rollers. First-time players will find it convenient to start with satellites or micro-tournaments that give away tickets to major events.

Bounty tournaments deserve a special mention. They work really simply: you knock out a rival – you get an award. Even if you don’t progress very far, you can put one or two opponents out to pasture and recoup part of your buy-in.
